About

A 50-year Journey:

Gene Beyt is from Acadiana in Southwest Louisiana. His interest in photography began as a child and developed while in medical school.

When science and art are real, they aim not at temporary private ends, but at eternal and universal—they seek for truth and the meaning of life, they seek for God, for the soul, and when they are tied down to the needs and evils of the day…they only complicate and hamper life.

An Artist's Story, Anton Chekhov, 1896

  • The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera. — Dorothea Lange

Gene uses his camera as an instrument of discovery, revealing stories of our quotidian world, imperfect and impermanent, offering a sense of grace and peace. At Studio Aesculapius, he hopes to discover how aesthetic experiences enrich our lives.
